Dr. Hampton, Thanks for responding to my posting. I have been talking to a Rendall in Glasgow who has access to a lot of info on Scollays of Orkney. He may even be related to me as he has Scollay in his history. I was told that when my grandfather came to Canada fro Scotland, immigrations may have screwed up the spelling of my surname and is as you see it today. It is my belief and the belief of others that my name was originally spelled Scollay. I am trying to locate living relatives still in Orkney or anywhere fo that matter. Any help would be appreciated. Doug

Noticed the Hawkland surname. Was curious. Doubt there's a family relationship. My family came from Norway and can trace them back to the 1600's. Of course, there may be a Viking connection!

I also have Rendalls, Leasks and Mowats. Have you noticed a marriage between a David Couper and a Douglas_ Craigie from Egilsay? David worked at Graemshall as a cattleman. Also an Isabella Yorston b.1823 and a William Mowat b. 1819? Happy to hear from you David from B.C. Canada
