Se Habla Espanol,pero despacio!

Just in case a pregnant lady gets discouraged about her belly size, I finally got brave, and here are some pics of me when I was carrying my three (but I can't find the photos of the youngest one. I had a 51" belly circumference. He weighed 8 lbs 13 oz and was an Unassisted birth. I did fine, and so did he.)

Here is one at 8 months with my oldest. I have no space between my ribcage and hipbones, so there was no place for the baby to grow except out front. I was often asked if I carried twins!

November 15, 1977, 39 weeks pg with my firstborn.

Note the dropped belly. I simply don't have any room to carry a baby except WAY out front! Another note: the doctor wanted to induce me if I didn't have the baby by the following Wednesday. I refused and she was born the day before the appointment.

Fast forward 3 years:

My second pregnancy, 2 days before the birth.

The baby was 8 lbs 2 oz and the labor was about 3 hrs, start to finish. This was my first homebirth, and I am eternally grateful to the midwives who made it possible. They showed me that birth was normal, and I wanted to become a midwife from that point on. All women should have it like this, and most all can, if they are prepared right, and birth their babies at home.

Saggy belly.

This is a good example of what is known as a pendulous uterus. Had I known then what I know now I would have figured out a way to lift the uterus a little more. This baby stayed posterior until 20 minutes before she was born. Then she flipped completely over and was born anterior( face down). Had I been in a hospital she probably would have stayed in posterior positioning, because movement during labor was not encouraged or supported( and in many places it still isn't!) I will continue to look for the pics of Numero Tres. He was the Whopper, for me, anyway! :)
