You mean you are interested about the person
who maintains this web site? Okay, here you go!
First of all, my name is Kimley
and I am from a smallish city southwest of Atlanta, Georgia. That is Georgia
as in the state of Georgia in the United States of America. Not
the Georgia that is a former soviet republic. Yep, I'm a southerner,
southern belle, Georgia Peach, whatever. There aren't too many of us left
in the Atlanta area. Most of us have retreated to either the mountains
of northern Georgia (yes, Georgia has mountains) or fled the south altogether!
How I came to be in west central Georgia:
My grandparent moved to this area when my granddad
retired from the Navy. He bought his mother's house and the surrounding
property and made a home for Grandma and the kids. After a while, he had
the place fixed up enough so that he could raise a herd of cattle on the
homestead ~Black Angus cattle. These turned out to be among the first registered
Angus cattle in the state. Many of today's Georgia Angus cattle carry the
blood of my granddaddy's cattle!
While my father was in VietNam, my mom moved
back home with her parents to keep close ties with the family. Of course,
I was a youngster at the time. This situation was ideal for me because
I got to spend oodles of time with my beloved grandparents. I even used
to help my granddad on the farm, taking care of the ponies. (Yep, that
is where I got my first exposure to horseflesh!) After the war, my father
came home and we moved around the country. We went wherever he was stationed;
Seattle, Quantico, etc. Anyway, after he finished his active duty, we moved
back to the area and I've never really left... at least not yet.
All right, enough of the history lesson. What
about now?
Jeez! Keep your shirt on! Now, I'm a 33 year
old female type person, single {never married (engaged once though)}. I
still live in the same area as the old homestead, but I work a lot closer
to Atlanta. I do taxes in the spring and am working (on again, off again)
on my Accounting degree at West Georgia College... Uh oh. Excuse me. It
is the
State University of West Georgia. I keep forgetting
that they became a university a couple of years ago. {Well, they say that
the memory is the second thing to go... I can never remember what the first
is! *LOL*} Over the last couple of years, I have really gotten into computers~so
much so that I have considered changing my major! *S* I have this web site,
Rich Chick's Hitching Post, and a half a cajillion*** e-mail
addresses. Plus, I have started my own cyber-construction business, Kimley's
Web Design and Graphics. I hang out in one of the best online horse
related chat rooms around, Foster Family Horse Chat, run by our chat pal,
John Foster from New Hampshire. The coolest people hang out there and I
just love talking to most of them; Lanny, Digger,
cricket, Tequila Lady, Betty, Hirsch, Heidi, Appajo and last, but not least,
my bestest
bestest buddy, Michael.
*big grin*
I own one quarter horse gelding, my baby,
Count Valencort. He is officially four years old and I think he is finally
both physically and mentally ready for under saddle work. Yes, I know that
most horses are under saddle (being ridden) when they are two, but I tend
to believe that if a horse is started too soon, he may experience several
physical problems that can severely shorten his useful life. I've gone
through a lot to keep this horse so he'd better be around for a long, long
time! My mother owns 3 quarter horse mares that I think of as mine. These
are Valencort's mother (Ginger), full sister (Breeze) and his half sister
(Sajid). I sure wish I had more time in my schedule to get out to the farm
more often and mess with them all more often!
***One cajillion is roughly 1000 bo-billion
