Help Save The Rotties - http://geocities.datacellar.net/Heartland/Estates/8136

Dear Friends and Supporters:
After two years of deep harassment, and emotional pain. Our story now comes to an end. As most of you know, we have fought a long and hard battle for not only the rights of our animals, but the rights of all animals and animal owners who live in the state of Oregon. We have faced constant turmoil, financial hardship and the constant fear of loss of our dear family members, the road has been a long and hard one, but one we have traveled with the help of so very many wonderful friends.
We appeared before the Clackamas County Commissioners today, for our final judgment. We had appeared before them last month on March 17th at which time they heard our case, it had been requested by Commissioner Larry Sowa, that the decesion, be held over until this month, since he voiced a very special interest in our case, and he was unable to be present at the March hearing due to having a recent surgery.
As it turned out at today's hearing, Commissioner Sowa who had formally been in the Oregon Legislator had been involved in helping to write and pass the original law concerning "kennels" in the state of Oregon. He was able to bring light to our hearing today since he had first hand knowledge of how the original law was written and meant to be used. He stated that the intent of the law was to help have control over commercial kennels, not private pet owners. A commercial kennel being an establishment where animals are kept for lodging, for commercial breeding or for sale of said animals. The law was in no way meant to hinder the ownership of private citizens, nor meant to state how many dogs a person was allowed to own as a pet. Based on his information, it clarified the state definition of what was a "kennel" and what was an animal owner. This is an area very dear to the Commissioner. He supports animal control laws that protect citizens, but he also supports the rights of animal owners to own and love their pets. As we all know, an owner who allows their animal to run at large, is a poor owner, and such activity can cost an animal its life.
When it came time to vote on our issue, Commissioners Sowa and Chairperson Kennemer both supported us. Commissioner Jordan did not, but it only took two votes in our favor to win our case. Thank god for Commissioner Sowa and his understanding of owning and loving an animal. Both he And Chair Kennemer in a single action today, took a giant step forward for the animals who live in Oregon, and the people who love them.
To all of the wonderful people out there, from all over the world, who wrote letters of protest, supported our efforts, shared their love with us and our animals, may god bless you each and every one. Your voices were heard, and did make a difference. To date the Governors office had received over 25,000 letters of protest and support of our case. Through your caring and understanding, and the help of wonderful people such as Attorney Robert Babcock, we had a voice in the law, for those who cannot speak for themselves. Mr. Babcock not only donated his time and efforts, but also paid fees for appeals when money ran short. This man is not only a champion of the people, but probably the greatest animal supporter active in this state. My family and I can never repay him for all he has done.
So on behalf of myself, and my family, a very special thank you to each and every one of you for your help, letters and understanding throughout our case. Today it was proven, that the voice of the people will be heard, and each and every one of us can make a difference.
Love
The Price Family
