My information on the McKendrick line is limited The family migrated from Scotland to Pennsylvania in the 1830s or 1840s as lore has it. There were five sons, Hugh Clarence left Pennsylvania and went to Colorado, married in Wyoming, moved to Idaho and died there. I have no information about his brothe s or parents, and what I know about him is very little. He was my paternal great grandfather. I sure would like to learn more of the family history. It is interesting to see the marriage of John Tilton and Mary "Goody" Pearsall. Were they married in England or in America? Henry Pearsall of Hempstead, LI (died summer of l667) is generally regarded as being the genearch of most of the American family f Pearsall, including many variant spellings of the surname. He is said to have been from Edgbaston, near Birmingham, in Warwickshire. If any additional information is available on Mary "Goody" Pearsall I would like to know about it. Many thanks!

Our father was Joe Sam Jowers, his father William Benjamin Jowers, his father Elder Benjamin Jowers with roots in Georgia and Carolina. We are in Birmingham, Ala area. Jo Ann and her husband travel by RV all around going on missions to find information. She may not know of your web site. Could you possibly contact her? They make frequent trips to Georgia and Barnard Co to the old Jowers settlers' lands. I do not kno if she is aware of the links to the northeast, but she goes there at least once yearly, to see the beauty of the land. I am a decendent of Jacob Shallenberger, whom I believed was one of the first of that clan to come over to America back in the 1700's. If it's helpful, here's some info. on my family tree: My mother's maiden name is Anne Shallenberger. Her father was Dr. Paul Lawrence Shallenberger (b.1902, d.1975), born in Canton, IL. His father was Dr. William L. Shallenberger, also from Canton. He was the you gest child of William Shallenberger who fought in the Civil War and died in the battle of Shiloh. Jan, I really am interested in finding out more about McCoys (a Presby minister from Scotland told me this summer--in Waycross--that the McCoy's are from Irish roots, and were resettled in Scotland, but that's not what my Dad thought) . . . Anyway, I was just thinking of you and Bruce. We have much news, but our modem got hit by lightning about two months ago, then we moved to Vidalia (where Teresa is now Director of Music Ministries at First United Methodist Vidalia--a great job, she had 2 K-2nd kids for first choir yesterday, and 13 for youth choir Sunday--I'll tell you more later. We may have to call you!). I did not make it to Candler this fall--but hope to next fall. I'm driving back and forth to Waycross College 4 days a week to teach, and it's nice to have two full time incomes, but I have not been hired for next year (99)--I guess I kept them wonderin for three years if I was coming back or not, and they got tired of it, I don't know. So--maybe I'll become a house husband, start a geneology web page and raise fish--I love your About Me page--I just printed it to take back to Teresa. I've got a new modem for our computer and have installed it, but having trouble getting it to function We're still with mci/peachnet at home in Vidalia and our address is still realmccoys@peachnet.mci.net, but we can't get our e-mail until I get that darn modem operating. We'd love to see you guys again. Is the info on your page old? Sam is older than 7 isn't he? Is there really a new Bunten in the oven? Our address is now 818 Estroff Drive, Vidalia GA 30474, and our phone = 912-537-4152 Marjorie started kindergarten this year--her teacher is wonderful, goes to our church, and her husband sings in Teresa's choir. Andrew is going to K-4 at Robert Toombs Christian Academy and is going to thrive out from under his "big" sister's shadow, I t ink. Well, gotta go. Much to do. I have a Disciple class tonight--yep, I'm a Methodist now too. Bill Strickland is our pastor--been at FUMC Vidalia for ten years! But leaving next year, I think. Anyway, he's quite a Bible scholar. I think I'll learn a l t in his Sunday school class, and in this Disciple class. I'm also taking Biblical Greek Basics and Formation for the Ministry at Brewton-Parker College, a small Baptist college, as a special student on an undergraduate level. But I'm enjoying it--and h pe it will be a headstart on seminary. I've enjoyed the books I borrowed from Bruce, and I'm now reading Foster's Celebration of Discipline, Pilgrim's Progress, and two or three others--all going at the same time. My Knapp lines begin with Anne Knapp marr. to Thomas Philbrick, Elizabeth Knapp marr. to Thomas Philbrick, and Lydia Knap marr. to Moses Mason. Your listing of unknown Knapp and Jyllian as parents to Robert Knapp raises questions. If Robert was b. 1537 and ? Knapp b. 1470, wife Jyllian b. 1472, Jyliian would have been 65 when Robert was born. Shouldn't there be another Knapp in between? You have esearched farther than I and I am happy I "latched" onto your site as it has given me more data to pursue. Thanks.

Need help in determining who my grandfather's father and mother were. My grandfather was James Frederick Dix, born in 1844. He was left some money by Frederick Tyson in 1853. (Aside: Is that where the Frederick came from?) He was appointed a guardian n 1855 because, as the form said, he was "...James Dix, orphan of ___ Dix" but the name is not filled in! My family Bible begins with James, who died in 1910. No one in the family knows who his folks were. When he was in the Confederate Army, he said e was born in Houson County, Ga., but when my father (now deceased) applied for a birth certificate in 1942, he said Wilkinson County . In the 1860 census, he was living with Greenbury Dicks in Emanuel County, 59th District. Help!
