MRS. WILLIAM B. ULERY (Sarah Anna KOOSER)
Mrs. Sarah Ann Kooser Ulery, 58, of Springfield pike, died at 9:30 o'clock
this morning at her home after a lingering illness.
The wife of William B. Ulery, she was born July 18, 1894, a daugther of
the late Alexander K. and Elizabeth Warrick Kooser of Normalville. The
Koosers moved to Connellsville in 1906 and lived here since that time.
She was married in Ocotber 9, 1911, in Connellsville. She was a member of
the First Evangelical United Brethren Church and the Royal Circle Class and
Women's Society of World Service.
Surviving besides her husband are three children: Roger and Ralph of
Connellsville and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Knight of Dunbar. There are 10
grandchildren, two brothers, Ray R. Kooser of Connellsville and Henry K.
Kooser of Dormont, Pittsburgh, and three sisters, Mrs. A. J. James of
Connellsville, Mrs. Milton Shaw of Mars and Mrs. Mary Swarner of Erie.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
ALEXANDER KOOSER
ALEXANDER KOOSER, AUCTIONEER, FATALLY STRICKEN AFTER SALE.
Stricken with a heart attack just after he had concluded crying a sale
Thursday afternoon. Alexander K. Kooser, 76 years old, well-known
auctioneer, died Saturday at noon at his home along the Springfield pike,
in Connellsville township, where he had lived for 35 years---since 1905.
Mr. Kooser was born June 10, 1863, in Sprinfield township. He was the
last surviving member of the family of Samuel and Sarah Kern Kooser. He
was a carpenter by trade and a member of the Connellsville local of the
Carpenters and Joiners of America. For many years he was active
politically in Connellsville township. He served two terms as tax
collector. For the last 20 years he had been judge of election in his
precinct. In politics he was a Republican. He was a member of the First
United Brethren Church and of the official board, being steward in his
district. He was a member of the Good Fellowship Bible Class.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Warrick Kooser, and seven sons and
daughters: Ray R. Kooser at home, Mrs. William B. Ullery and Mrs. A. J.
James of Connellsville, Mrs. M. D. L. Brooks, Mrs. Milton Shaw and Henry
Kern Kooser of Pittsburgh and Mrs. J.B. Swarner of Erie. There are 20
grand and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the
home, with burial in Hill Grove Cemetery, in charge of Funeral Director
Clyde B. Brooks of Indian Head.
MRS. ELIZABETH KOOSER

Mrs. Elizabeth Kooser, 73 years old, widow of Alexander K. Kooser, died at
8:15 o'clock this morning at her home on the Springfield pike. She was
stricken with a stroke of paralysis Sunday evening and had been unconscious
since noon Tuesday. Mrs. Kooser was born in Saltlick township July 17,
1867, a daughter of the late George and Rose Ann(sic) Warrick. She was
married December 27, 1887, to Mr. Kooser, who was then a resident of
Springfield township, moved to Connellsville township. Eleven children
were born to the union and seven survive as follows: Mrs. William Ulery and
Mrs. A. J. James of Connellsville, Ray Kooser, at home; Mrs. M. D. Brooks,
Mrs. Milton Shaw and Henry K. Kooser, all of Pittsburgh, and Mrs. James
Swarner of Erie. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. S. M. Showman, of
Connellsville, two brothers, Jacob and John Warrick of Norton county, Kan.,
20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mr. Kooser died February 17,
1940.
Mrs. Kooser was a member of the First United Brethren Church, the Royal
Circle Bible Class, the Ladies Aid Society and the Women's Missionary
Society of the church. She was well and favorably known in the community.
W. B. Ulery
William B. Ulery of Springfield Pike died Wednesday in the Medical Center, Morgantown, W. Va., where he had been admitted shortly before.
The body was brought to the Brooks Funeral home.

The funeral service for William B. Ulery, 75, of 1913 Springfield Pike, who died unexpectedly at 11:35 pm Wednesday in the West Virginia University Hospital at Morgantown, will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday in the Brooks funeral home. The Rev. E. I. Mankamyer will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Olive Cemetery.
He was born Dec. 4, 1835, in Bullskin Township, a son of the late William F. and Mary Jane Martin Ulery, and had been a lifelong resident of this vicinity. He was a retired miner of the H. C. Frick Coke Co., and a member of Local No. 7914, U. M. W. A., the First E. U. B. Church and its Men's Bible Class.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Toyley Ulery; a son, Ralph K. of Connellsville, a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Mary) Knight of Dunbar; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five brothers, Preston, Irvin, and Ebbert of Connellsville, R. D. 2 Roy of East Millsboro and Peter of Hiller; and three stepsons, Ralph Gardner of McKeesport, Earl Gardner of Layton and Bobby Gardner of Dawson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Anna, in 1952, a son, Roger R., in 1957, and three sisters.
