Our big assignment right now is the building of a railroad on which to run our live steam equipment. Right-of-way is cleared and construction has begun on the first several hundred feet of track. Known as the "Ft. Taylor & Southwestern," it will wander through the pine tree and palmetto forrest of northern Florida. Some day, the FT&SW will be a 3600 foot railroad, boasting more than 700 feet of trestles and bridges. Two engines pull our trains: a coal fired replica of a 1912 Pacific (4-6-2) type steam engine and a modern GP-40 diesel powered by five golf cart batteries. Riding cars for this 7 and 1/2-inch gauge railroad include several gondolas, a flat car, ore car and caboose.
