Waldorf Cake
(Makes 2 layers)

Cream together real good:
1`/2 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. sugar

Add 2 eggs and blend for 1 minute. Add 1 tsp vanilla, 1 oz bottle of red pure food coloring. Then add another 1/2 bottle of same red food coloring.

Stir carefully and add 1 bottle of tap water.
Then add:
2 c. flour, sifted
1 tsp salt.
1 c. buttermilk
(alternate flour, buttermilk, flour buttermilk, until all is added). Mix real well.

Put these items together in a cup:
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tb. vinegar
Stir these together and then add to mixture. Carefully fold around lightly, NOT beating hard. Folding good and careful. Pour into 2 greased and floured 8" tins.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes.
