John Lincoln Souther. 89'8" x 24'8" x 10'3". 197 74/95 tons with one

Jonathan B. Atkins, from Mobile for Boston with cargo of Cotton,
hides and staves, mistook Sankaty Light for Gay Head and ran through
Muskegat Channel supposing it to be South Channel. She grounded on
Shovelful Shoals and was gotten off after four hours by steamer,

half-model & an account book. .

Note: Some timber taken at the Quincy place for deck beams for the
Brig Souther was used to rebuild Souther Tide Mill in 1849,
after the earlier one burned.
