The building is small, with only a 676 square foot area, which houses over 2000 books. We have around 130,000 family group sheets. There are three computers, a large copier, a microfiche reader. we house all the southern states on microfiche, three printers, one Omegi One Zip Drive, a Rewriteable CD Maker and the library is shopping for a microfilm reader. We already have about 100 microfilm. There 250,000 cemetery records on computer and there are more to be added. There are about 200,000 marriage records, including 44,000 Ware County GA marriages that are current to January 1998, and approximately 30,000 marriage records to be added. Records are added daily as time permits. We are building records from Ware County GA and all the closest counties nearby within a 100 mile square. We also have many books on SC, NC, AL, VA, PA and others.
Linda Angell, our resident genealogical researcher says, "I've always wanted a Genealogy Library in Waycross, and decided that to only way to get one was to build one. This library is growing with leaps and bound. We will gladly add your family history and welcome you to share ours. Due to the limited space, the library is open by appointment only."
Consultations: When making a request for information be specific. A name alone is not enough. A Spouse or Parents names would be helpful or even dates. Make your queries short and limited to one or two people at a time.
