Second training and enroute visits
~ Last Reminder before we get there! ~
around Feb, 1997
After the two weeks' training period was over in Atria, the chief trainer
put on a waiter's costume and served us a very nice meal that evening.
Having seen his willing attitude to serve, it reminded us of how Jesus
washed his disciples' feet. The Lord did say, " Not so with you. Instead,
whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever
wants to be first must be your slave - just as the Son of Man did not come
to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many "
(Matt 20:26-27)
Throughout the training, emphasis on the first and foremost task is
to know God and love Him. Additionally, love people, your spouse and coworkers.
When serving with other colleagues, it's important that we cultivate teamwork
and complement each other with our God-given talents. Praise the Lord that
we had such great reminders before we head out to our mission field.
~ Bundon's en-route visit ~
After a LONG bus trip, we arrived in Bundon finally. We then transferred
to another bus, so that we got to FordBull, where Iris' sister lived. We
were thankful that we could visit FordBull. It has many classical and solemn
buildings, a quaint city. We also shared our testimony at the church in
Bundon, where Iris got baptized. Since we were still waiting for the visa,
we also took the opportunity to visit another good friend of Iris' in northern
RoyaLand and other brothers and sisters from the Chinese church there.
We also made use of this time to learn about computer and the people group's
culture whom we will be serving.
~ Joyfully, patiently, we ask you to pray for us ~
Our prayer items
~ Challenge: unto the end of this earth ~
In "Hah-Hah Land" where we're heading to, many people there have not even
heard of the gospel before. Most folks are Muslims. Therefore, sharing
the gospel is a big challenge. Both of us will be doing support work so
the other missionaries are worry free to carry out their duties. Filbert
is helping out with office administration. Iris will be teaching the missionary
kids in the school. We are arming ourselves so we'll be ready for our roles
ahead!
