Maleficent Voice: Eleanor Audley
henchmen: Her goons fail at finding Aurora at first, so Maleficent turns to her faithful raven to find the princess.
Review: Maleficent is truly one of the
best villains in cinamatic history. She's a
member of a group of villains I like to call
"The Golden Girls." A group with such
members as Cruella De Vil and Ursula.
But Maleficent is most definately the
reigning queen of them all! With the help
of the creative supervision of the talented animator Marc Davis, who
has brought such memorable characters as Tinker Bell and Cruella to
the silver screen.
Though the style and
form of Maleficent is
absoulutely
breathtaking, the thing
that really makes
Maleficent the excusit
villainess that she is, is
her voice. The brilliant
Eleanor Audley brings
the voice of
Maleficent to
powerful life. "And
now you shall deal
with me, oh prince,
and all the powers of
Hell!" says the evil
mistress, as she rises
to the clouds, in a
hideous
transformation from a
vicious she-devil, to
an enormous
fire-breathing dragon.
There by confronting
her enemy, Prince Phillip. This scene is one the most memorable in a
Disney motion picture. There's one frequently asked question about
Maleficent: what is the point of all this? What is the reason she is doing
this to Princess Aurora? Is it because she is unhappy about not beeing
invited to the celebration of the birth of the Princess? Maybe it has
something to do with an ongoing resentment towards King Stefan and
his kingdom. Or perhaps it's just because she's evil, and she likes to
watch people suffer. It might be all of the above, but no matter what
reason she has, Maleficent will always be the best Disney Villain in my
eyes, and in many others as well.
