The baby Turtles!!!!

I was really happy to see the eggs finally hatch, 3 months to the day!!!

Here is a picture of a couple of the eggs. They were leathery, almost soft to the touch. When the turtles first hatched their shells were the same.

Here is a picture of the frame we built to keep cats or birds away from the eggs, or the new turtles if they hatched while I was at school. It also would help to keep them together if I hadn't been around to help.

Godzilla's head was up the whole time we were in the pen. I guess she was wanting to make sure we didn't hurt anyone!

Godzilla really is brave.

My sister Mekala helped a lot.

Here is a closeup

Here is another closeup

And yet another baby up close

They swarm all over. Makes you wonder what they are thinking and what instinct drives them along.

Here is one in Mekala's hand to give you an idea of what size they are.

Here is one next to a quarter.

You can see from this picture how their natural markings would make them hard to see for a predator.

I take time to take some notes while I am studying the turtles.

Here you can see the yolk sack that helps them in the first few days of life.

Here are a couple of the little guys enjoying their new home in a terrerium in my room
