Meet Sarah

Sarah is our social child. While in high school, she had a full schedule of playing trombone in the jazz band (which met at 7:00 AM before school) and concert band, ran cross country and helped lead the Youth Alive Bible study at school. She enjoyed acting in the high school plays (including "Fiddler on the Roof", "Oklahoma", playing Puck in "A Midsummer Night's Dream", "Flowers for Algernon" and "Oliver!"), and served as her junior class treasurer and student body secretary her senior year. Sarah also attended the Nation Young Leader's Conference in the fall of 1999, held in Washington D.C., which was an experience of a lifetime.

She has had several opportunities to go on mission trips with our youth group, to inner-city Seattle in 1997 and to the Dominican Republic in June, 1998. These were experiences that changed her life. She had a very active part in our youth group and was usually in the middle of all of their activities.

Sarah was accepted in the fall of 2001 to the University of Washington as a freshman with distinction. She didn't slow down her high school pace--she auditioned for and was accepted into the Husky Marching Band, and served on staff her senior year. (Go Dawgs!) She recently graduated with a BA in English and a minor in music, and was accepted into the Teach For America program. She'll begin her teaching career this fall, teaching 8th grade English, and plans to pursue her masters over the next couple of years.
