Mathew Seltzer Kahle
This Ambrotype is of my great-great-grandfather, Mathew Seltzer Kahle. He was a cabinetmaker living in Lexington, Rockbridge County, Virginia in the 1800's. The actual size is 2-1/2" X 3".
An expert from the Daguerreotype Society of America says this appears to be an Ambrotype which was developed around 1855 and can be found on images used through the Civil War. Mathew died May 3, 1869.
