Bessie L. Vandevander Thompson

Bessie L. Vandevander Thompson, 96, of Charleston, formerly of Circleville, Pendleton County, died June 17, 2001, in CAMC General Hospital after a short illness.

She was a member of Morris Memorial United Methodist Church. She was involved in several area church and community activities. She was retired from the West Virginia Workers Compensation Division and was an elementary school teacher in Pendleton County for 10 years. Mrs. Thompson was a graduate of St. John's Academy and Shepherd College.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie E. Thompson, and son, Charles L. Thompson.

Surviving; son, John Wayne Thompson of Charleston; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, at Morris Memorial United Methodist Church, Charleston, with Dr. Chuck Pullins and the Rev. Bill Holsclaw officiating. Interment and committal service will be Thursday, June 21, in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Franklin.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Morris Memorial United Methodist Church Contiguity Fund, 4615 MacCorkle Ave. SE, Charleston, WV 25304.
