Edward is the son of Edward J. Caton and Mahala Hinkle Caton of Pendleton County, VA/WV. Mary is the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Arbogast Van Deventer. Thomas was from Tennesee and Elizabeth from Ohio. Mary was born in DeWitt County, IL.
