MRS. VANDEVANDER FUNERAL TUESDAY Mrs. Nancy Vandevander, widow of the late Charlie Vandevander of Circleville, died last Saturday (12-15-1956) in Memorial Hospital at Charleston. She was 79. A daughter of James and Cornelia (should be Caroline) Barkley Mauzy, Mrs. Vandevander was born June 1, 1877, at Smith Creek. Her husband died August 21, 1946, and in recent years has made her home with her daughter. (Bessie Vandevander Thompson). Mrs. Vandevander is survived by a sister, Mrs. Lucy Judy of Franklin, a brother, Bead Mauzy of Smith Creek and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Foster Vandevander, two brothers and a sister, and three half-brothers and two half-sisters. Mrs. Vandevander had been a member of the Methodist Church for some 25 years. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 11am in the Franklin Methodist Church by the Rev. L. W. Rhudy, and interment was in Cedar Hill Cemetery by Brown Funeral Service. |

MRS. VANDEVANDER Mrs. Nancy Vandevander, 78, died Saturday night (12-15-1956) at Charleston Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Vandevander, a native of Pendleton County, lived in Kanawha City with a daughter, Mrs. Bessie Thompson. Both she and her late husband, Charles, were members of prominent Pendleton County families, but Mrs. Vandevander has lived here for 20 years. Mr. Vandevander was once Sheriff of his native Pendleton. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Franklin. Surviving, in addition to the daughter, are a sister, Mrs. Lucy Judy of Franklin; a brother, Edward Mauzy of Franklin and two grandsons. The body is at Wilson Funeral Home. |
