The top photo is the paternal 3rd great grandfather of Barb (Hays) Clayton, William Irvin who served in Captain Bogard's 4th Il Infantry in the Mexican War and also served with Company E, 6th Illinois Cavalry as a Blacksmith. His daughter Elzirah Irvin, married Civil War soldier Henry Hays, Barb (Hays) Clayton's paternal great, great grandfather. Henry Hays served with Company E, 32nd Illinois Infantry. The bottom photo is of Vera (Hays) Durstine, the sister of Barb (Hays) Clayton. Vera served in the US Army and was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany.
