Kim's Birthday

Kim celebrated her 5th birthday on January 23rd. She started the celebrating by having cupcakes at her daycare center on Friday afternoon. After that, the whole family went to Chuck E. Cheese for pizza, ball pit and arcade fun. We played lots of games, and had lots of fun. On Saturday the 23rd, we had a party at McDonald's, where Kim, Mike and 6 of Kim's friends played and had lunch, cake and icecream. Kim received many nice gifts from her friends. After the party, Kim opened her presents from the family. After that, she played - what else? - Barbies!

Let it Snow!

We had some wintry weather in January, with a couple of snowfalls and an ice storm. The public schools were closed on one Friday, and then the next Thursday and Friday due to the weather, and David and Jenny's work sent them home early one day. The ice storm caused a lot of power outages around the area, though not at our house. It brought a lot of trees down, too. We did not have any damage, thank goodness, but our neighbors lost some tree limbs, and other folks lost whole trees. Jenny and the kids went on a walk the morning after the storm, and took some pictures of the ice on the trees. As they were walking back home, the ice started melting, and then within an hour, it was all fallen onto the ground.

 

Odds and Ends

Let's see, what else happened this month? We painted the master bedroom, finally, after living here for 7 1/2 years!... Mike had a field trip to the Science Center... Mike and Kim started to make their own scrapbook pages just like Jenny's... Mike and Kim spent some time together playing nicely and sharing - that's worth mentioning!... Jenny had a one-day work trip to Boston and back... Mike continued in his piano lessons, learning about time signatures and practicing his songs...Well, can't really think of anything else, so tha must be about it! Sorry for the short (and late) page this month. I'll try to get February's page up before the end of the month!
