Hi, I'm Michael!

I am 6 1/2 years old, and I'm in Ms. Forno's First Grade class at Stevens Forest Elementary School. I like people to call me Mike.

I had my Half-Birthday on April 13th.  Mom made me half a birthday cake.  I thought she was going to just make a whole one and save half, but it turns out she really only did make half of it!  It looked like someone cut a two-layer cake in half.  It was pretty funny!

At school, my favorite subject is *RECESS*! I just love it. I like to run around.

My second favorite subject is *MATH*! So far this year, I have learned to do addition and subtraction with regrouping, graphing, glyphs, and a little bit of probability. Some days I get to use the blocks to help me with the regrouping part. That is really fun.

Then comes LUNCH!

I have learned to read this year. Mom and Dad have kept a list of books I have read. Well, not all of them are listed, but a lot of them are! I love to read Magic School Bus books, even though they are kind of long.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays in May I will be having homework.  My first homework was a book report.  I had to write five events from my book, and write them in the order that they happened in the story.  I read Arthur Writes a Story by Marc Brown for my first book report.  I drew a picture with my report.  It shows Arthur sitting at his desk working on his story.

On Saturdays this spring, I am playing both T-Ball and Soccer. And WOW does it ever take a lot of energy to do both!  So far this year I am the only player on my baseball team who has caught a fly ball!  I'm having a lot of fun.  My team is the Royals.  Last year I was on the Mariners team.  All the teams in the league are named after Major League teams.  Around here, the Orioles are the favorite Major League team.  Maybe next year my little league team will be the Orioles!

I think next year I will not play soccer.  I like baseball better, and it is hard playing both on Saturdays in the spring.  Mom and Dad said I don't have to quit soccer if I don't want, but I think I'll just stick with baseball.  That way I'll be able to play for the Orioles when I'm grown, and maybe by then Cal Ripken will be the General Manager or something.  I KNOW he won't still be playing, because even though he is a great player, he's WAY too old to still be playing then!

See ya later,
Mike
