How Did All This Get Started??

July 25, 2001

All about me…

I live in San Antonio, TX with my two children Clint and Curtis. They are 19 and 10. Being surrounded by men all the time can get rather old and tiresome. So to make my life a little gentler I have DAWN.

Where does Dawn live…

She lives in my formal living room in a 5 story cherry wood and gold trim cabinet. There is a wonderful light that shines on these beauties and it warms anyone who sees it! I have so many NRFB dolls that I can't display them all so I must rotate them. I have over 100 loose dolls dressed and I must also rotate them. I pick of course my favorites and then I try to be seasonal when exchanging. I have all the majorettes, 3 flower fantasy's, all the original dolls, all the 2nd edition dolls and at least one of all the dancing dolls NFRB. I also have all the model agency girls except for two. They are my quest at this time in my collecting. Them and the very rare MIB outfits.

How did this collection get started…

I went to an Antique show and I walked into a booth that had toys. In a small box on a table I found a 6-˝ inch doll with long dark hair and real eyelashes. She instantly triggered a memory. I turned to the lady in the booth and asked if she knew what this doll was? She took the beautiful creature from me and proceeded to remove her red mini dress and white panties. I was about to shriek! She pulled out a mini magnify device and said Topper Corporation (all the while thinking to myself, I could have done that!). I said "Yes, but who is she?" The lady admitted that she did not have a clue and sold me the beautiful creature for $1.50. A month or two later I was at a flea market and if you want to here the rest of this story, visit this page of The Temple of Dawn where my vision is recorded.

How did we get here…?

When I returned from the flea market that day, I said, "I wish I could find more of these wonderful little ladies. So, I did an Internet search for Dawn Dolls; first I found Joedi Johnson's book. Then I found D's Dolls. About two months later, I found E-bay (Fashion Dolls - Non Barbie). And then I received an e-mail that was as plain as this:

Please visit my web-site, you might enjoy it!

I did just that and I found the Temple of The Blonde, Brunette and Golden Dawn. This is were my inspiration for this page has come from. The author of this page has helped me so much! Go there and enjoy.

Where are we at now…

Well my collection is growing daily. I have a beauty pageant and a fashion show. I have the talking telephone/couch and Dawn's Apartment. I have a Dawn N Me Pocketbook and a lovely beauty parlor. I have several NRFB outfits both Dawn and other 'made for 6 1/2' fashions. I really like some of the Rockflower outfits (ugly dolls, but definitely cute 60's fashions).

Is there an end to this madness…?

NO! I think once you have been smitten by these little lasses you are hooked for life! I have shared her with young and old, male and female and they all say the same thing. SHE IS BEAUTIFUL, where did you get her? Who is she? So I don't think I will stop; it is just too much FUN!
