I had my hair cut for the first time when I was three. Deuteronomy compares man to a "tree in the field". We don't harvest the fruit of a tree for three years and we don't cut a little boy's hair for three years. I had a big party for my upshernish. Upshernish means 'cutting' in Yiddish. Everybody cut off a lock of my hair and then ate cake. I now wear my tzitzit and kipa (yarmulka) and am such a BIG boy. See a newspaper story about my hair cut below!
