This Sales Contract entered into this ______ day of ______________, 19___ between Paula & Steve Williams (hereinafter referred to as Breeder) and _______________________________ hereinafter referred to as Buyer and/or Owner and/or Primary Owner).
In the consideration of the sum $___________(US Dollars) such being the purchase price and all mutual promises contained herein, Seller promises to and does hereby deliver and agree to transfer Primary ownership of a purebred Keeshond dog, known in the litter as ___________ (hereinafter referred to as Dog) eligible for Full Registration with the American Kennel Club. The Dog was whelped ____________, 19___, sired by _____________________________________out of __________________________________. All costs of transporting the Dog to the Buyer will be the Buyer's responsibility.
The registered name of the Dog will be mutually agreed upon by both parties and follow the theme of the litter established by the Breeder. The name will contain the Breeder's kennel name of "Kühl". AKC (American Kennel Club) individual registration fee will be paid by the Owner.
The Dog is sold as a show and breeding prospect. Show and breeding are not mutually exclusive. If the Dog is not of show quality, the Dog is not breeding quality. There are no guarantees; either implied or otherwise, that this Dog will mature into a show/breeding prospect.
All parties named in this contract further agree to these items:
GENERAL
1. The Seller has provided the Buyer with her veterinarian's statement that the Dog is healthy at the time of sale. At the Buyer's discretion, the puppy may be taken to a vet of the Buyer's choosing within 3 (three) days of shipment or delivery. The Seller will be contacted immediately concerning any unusual conditions, parasites not included. The Seller will not be responsible for veterinarian charges without prior consent.
2. The Owner
will maintain the Dog at their residence and will be responsible for proper
care, including routine veterinary vaccinations, nutritional needs and any
other care necessary to the health of the Dog.
It is also agreed that this Dog will not be allowed to run loose outside
its owner's yard and is not to be left outside alone and/or tethered for
prolonged periods of time. A violation of this part of contract is a
serious violation.
3. The Owner agrees to raise the Dog in an environment of love and attention. The Dog will be handled in such a way as to instill trust in people. And protected from the possibility of accidental breedings.

4. The Owner will train the Dog for the conformation show ring. The Owner is encouraged to attend puppy kindergarten classes with the Dog once vaccinations are up-to-date and Puppy Basic Obedience training is also recommended when the Dog is between 4-6 months of age.
5. Shows the Dog will be entered in will be decided by the Owner. All show costs and fees are the responsibility of the Primary Owner. Any advertising of the Dog is at the Primary Owner's discretion and such costs are the responsibility of the Primary Owner. The Co-owner may be asked to show the Dog if the Owner cannot attend important specialty dog shows. In this case, the Owner would reimburse the Co-owner for reasonable expenses that have been discussed and mutually agreed upon before the show(s) take place. Dog will be entered and shown a minimum of 20 times, unless the dog’s championship is earned prior to this commitment.
6. Should the Owner wish to sell or dispose of
the Dog at any time during it's life, the Owner shall first contact the
Breeder to give her an opportunity to take the Dog (Free of Charge). The transfer of the Dog to anyone other than
the Breeder must be approved in writing by the Breeder. The parties named in this contract may
mutually agree to sell the Dog to a third party. If the Dog is not of show quality, the Dog will be neutered prior
to placement at the expense of the Primary Owner. A contract which will protect the best interests of the Dog shall
be executed between the parties named in this contract and the new owner. This contract will be approved by both the
Primary Owner and Co-owner/Breeder. A violation of this part of the contract is
a serious violation.
7. If the Dog should develop a serious fault by the age of 26 (twenty six) months, the Primary Owner will received $100.00 (one hundred dollars) off the going show price of a show puppy from the Breeder. The second puppy, although show quality, will not have a monetary discount or other offer should it not turn out to be show quality. If this should happen, the Dog in this contract will be neutered prior to receiving the next puppy. This would follow item #6 in this contract.
Definition of a serious fault: Hip dysplasia as diagnosed by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, slipping stifles, overshot or undershot or wry mouth, size exceeding 19-1/2 (nineteen & one/half) inches at the shoulder, size below 16 (sixteen) inches at the shoulder, entirely black or white or any solid color coat, absence of dark lines which form the spectacles.
Consequences of a serious violation: ALL Serious violations will result in the dog being returned immediately to the breeder at NO cost to the breeder. ALL shipping costs incurred shall be paid by the owner.. ALL papers concerning the registration/ownership of this dog will be immediately signed over to the breeder.

8. The Dog will undergo an "Evaluation of Quality" at an age not earlier than 18 months and not later
than 24 months of age by the Primary and Co-Owner and at least one other person mutually agreed upon by the owners. The results of such an evaluation will be drafted into writing and signed by the parties in this contract. The "Evaluation of Quality" consists of: structural evaluation, movement (front, side, and rear) evaluation, temperament evaluation and type evaluation. If the Co-owner cannot be present for the "Evaluation of Quality", a video evaluation or appointment of another party to act as the Co-owner's agent will be made. The appointment of another person to act as the Co-owner's agent must be in writing by the Breeder. If the owners determine the Dog is not of show quality, the Dog will be neutered, following item #6 of this contract.
9. The Dog will be raised by the Primary Owner
as a show prospect until such time as the "Evaluation of Quality"
is made, as outlined in item #8. The
Dog will be trained, conditioned, groomed and fed as a show prospect. The critical development time of a show
quality Keeshond is from its birth up through the time the Dog is 24 (twenty
four) months of age. This means the
Dog's diet, coat and skin condition, attitude and overall health will be
monitored closely by the Primary Owner to be sure the Dog will develop
physically and mentally to its potential.
The Breeder will assist in this process by providing suggestions and
guidance throughout this time. If the Dog is found to be in terrible
condition, this would be a serious violation of the contract.
10. The parties in this contract will notify each other within 2 weeks of an address change and/or phone number change.
11. Buyer swears that he/she is not acting as an agent in the purchase of this Dog, nor will he/she ever sell this Dog or any of her get to any agent, questionable purchaser, pet store, guard dog business, commercial breeder, research facility or any wholesaler of pure-bred dogs. If any dog, including this one being sold now is found to be or to have been abused or neglected, then ownership automatically reverts back to the Breeder without any question and results in the Dog being given an AKC Limited Registration by the Co-owner/Breeder.
12. Should Buyer wish to procur a handler for conformation showing of this Dog, Co-owner must approve of this handler in writing prior to the dog being shown. Failure to provide this information to Breeder/Co-owner will result in severe penalty.
BREEDING
13. In order to be used for breeding, the following three items must first be accomplished:
a. The Dog must be found clear of hip dysplasia by OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals)
or a Veterinary University (such as Ohio State University, University of Michigan Veterinary
University, etc.) OFA or Veterinary University test results will be sent to the Breeder within
2 (two) weeks of their receipt by the Primary Owner.
b. The Dog must be of show quality as based upon the "Evaluation of Quality" outlined under
item #8.
c. The Dog must complete his American Championship (AKC).
If the Dog is used for breeding without these items being accomplished, this is a serious violation o the contract.

14. Any breeding
involving this Dog must be approved in writing by the Breeder. The Breeder's
signature is the only valid signature on the AKC litter application where
the Dog is listed as sire. This remains
in effect for the life of the Dog. This
will ensure that only bitches of suitable quality, compatible pedigrees, having
a passing hip evaluation either by OFA or a Veterinary University can be used
in the breeding of this dog. The Bitch
Owner must screen for good homes, following up with the owners for a period not
less than two years, and the Bitch Owner must further agree to take back
puppies that do not work out in their new homes during the lifetime of the
puppy/adult dog. If a breeding is not approved in
writing, that is a serious violation of the contract.
15. Any puppies resulting from a breeding of this Dog will be sold under contracts to protect their best interests. Pet puppies will be sold under Limited AKC Registration AND under a spay/neuter contract. Show and breeding puppies will be sold under contracts similar to this contract. Names, addresses and phone numbers of puppies sired by this Dog will be supplied to the Breeder named in this contract. This remains in effect for the life of any resulting puppies sired by this Dog. If the Dog is sold (following item #6 of this contract) the new owner's contract will contain this clause.
SPECIAL
16. The Dog is nominated for Futurity competition at the _____ Keeshond Club of America National Specialty show. If the Dog is competitive (as mutually agreed between Primary Owner and Co-owner) at the time entries are to be submitted, the Primary Owner and Breeder will make every effort to be sure the Dog competes at this show. The Futurity renewal fees will be paid for by the Breeder and the show entry fees and any fees to facilitate transportation and showing at the show will be paid for by the Primary Owner. If the Dog competes in Futurity and wins Best in Futurity or Best of Opposite in Futurity, the monetary awards will be split 25% to the Primary Owner and 75% to the Breeder. A photo of the win will be paid for and sent to the Breeder by the Primary Owner.
Serious Violations of this contract as noted in the items above as serious violations, will result in the Dog being given, gratis to the Breeder immediately. Costs of transporting the Dog to the Breeder will be the responsibility of the Primary Owner. All registrations on the Dog will be signed over to the Breeder. The Dog becomes the property of the Breeder.
Upon completing payment, signing this contract and taking delivery of the Dog, the Buyer will be given the AKC Registration Form to sign as soon as it is available
Any and all suits for the breach of, or enforcement of this contract will be brought in the County of Lake, in the state of Illinois and the laws of the state of Illinois will apply.
The Buyer and Seller
have thoroughly read and understand and agree to abide by this contract.
