The Schwitzgebel Family Genealogy is dedicated with love to my father-in-law, Gilbert and his uncle, Harry Schwitzgebel. For many years, dating back to 1947, Harry kept in touch with family members internationally by corresponding, sending CARE packages, visiting family members no matter how distant and many other acts of kindness.

Over the years, Harry and Gilbert corresponded with people in Germany, Canada, Hawaii, California, Missouri, Texas, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Connecticut and Michigan in search of a link between their family line and ours.

After Harry's death, Gilbert continued the tradition of tracing our family roots. In the years since Gilbert's passing, I have continued the family tradition along with my brother-in-law, Bernie and his son, Mike.

Some years ago a genealogist from Germany, Guido Mueller, conducted extensive research for us and provided birth, marriage, death and other civil records that enabled us to trace back eleven generations to Mathias Schwitzgebel who migrated to Zweibrucken, Germany from Switzerland in 1669.

Through our contact with Guido Mueller, we were able to make the family connection with family members in Texas and Canada. and we are most grateful for his efforts and research that he performed on our behalf. Our only regret is that Uncle Harry and Dad were not with us here on earth to share in the joy when we received the information from Mr. Mueller but know that they must be smiling down on us from above!
