My Quilts

This wallhanging started as an applique block done in a class with June Kempston. It was so cute I couldn't wait to make it into something. The inverted scalloped border is a first for me.

I made this tablerunner in 2000 but only finished quilting in Oct. 2001. The outside border is machine quilted (and not very well) with the inside done by hand.

Recently I was preparing to give an Electric Quilt Software Demo. As part of the class I made this wallhanging as an example of one thing that can be done with the program. Each block is a paper pieced pattern taken from the EQ Block Library. I used fabric from my stash and hoped to achieve a summertime feel.

After several interruption in my progress on this quilt I have finished piecing my very own Jewel of the East. I took a one day seminar class for this quilt which is taken from the 1998 BHG Quilt Sampler magazine. It was so much fun picking the combinations for the NY Beauty blocks. I used many fabrics from my stash but also added several orientals to give the quilt the same sort of flavor as the original. Many thanks to Karen Krupka, teacher of the class and the one that worked out the kinks in the original directions. The plastic templates Karen had made were wonderful and made working on this quilt much easier and more enjoyable.
Here is an easy and fun quilt. It is called Stack n Slash. I had two fabric club packages and decided they would work for this class and off I went to enjoy a Sat. afternoon class while we were still living in the cabin. I found the sashing, border and backing fabric in the sale bin which made the whole quilt inexpensive.

While living in a cabin on a small lake while we waited to close on a house I kepted busy with quilting. A friend of mine invited me to join her and another lady on a trip 1.5 hrs. away to a quilt shop that was having a going out of business sale. I bought fabric for the pure joy of buying at such a reduced price. I had no project in mine but once back to the cabin I started thinking about what I could do with these fabrics and this is the quilt I came up with. It is the cover quilt on McCalls' Quick Quilts.

After finally getting settled in our house and getting the sewing room organzied I started quilting in earnest once again. Here is a quilt I made for my In-law's 50th wedding anniversary.

What could be nicer than to make a star pillow just for the fun of it. This is the NY star from Carol Doak's 50 Fabulous PP Stars.

This brings us up to the recent Christmas holidays. At the last minute I decided it was time I made my mother a quilt. She loves frogs and I had a few yards of a frog print that I had purchased with her in mind a couple years earlier. When I started out I had no idea what this quilt would look like....I knew I would use fussy cut frog scenes and scraps of fabric. I was very pleased with the results and so was my Mom.

This one is a close up of an applique block I did. That cute frog sitting in the tree just begged to have the tree pieced all around him.

Here's the backing...this is where all the fussy cuts came from.

Most recently I made this wallhanging for a friend of ours. She admired the Bargello that is hanging in our family room so I offered to make a smaller version for her. It still needs to be quilted.

My New Year's resolution is to finish unfinished projects in between starting new ones. So far so good.

Thanks for looking at some of my quilts.
