FUN IN DECEMBER

Here I have posted a few pictures that show you some of the fun we have been having both in Mexico and back in the states while on vacation.

picture One Saturday afternoon in December Neil, his Dad and our two oldest children were enticed to join some Mexican friends on a climb up Saddle Mountain. This is the group early into the climb. We didn't see any smiles when our four returned home late that evening. It was a difficult climb because of the boulder covered "road". To make matters worse when Neil and Daniel reached the top they discovered the water bottles were in another backpack which was a good thirty minutes behind them (Rebecca was carrying it).

picture A little farther up.

picture Is it cloud or smog cover? Just a small portion of the very large city of Monterrey.

picture Here is our nephew taking a break during his second time only on the ice. The kid is made of rubber....he was down so many times but just kepted bouncing back.

picture If there was a puddle of water he found it.....he was having as much fun in the water as he was up on the skates...that is until his hands started to freeze...another pair of gloves please.

picture A borrowed sled added a new dimension of fun for our little Bronson. Honestly, the ice was thick enough to take the rising temperature but one would wonder when you saw that much water on the surface.

picture With only one previous attempt at ice skating the girls all did remarkably well. If it wasn't for some pinched toes in borrowed skates it would have been a perfect day.

picture Our three "Olympic hopefuls" Well not really but they did have fun.

picture On New Year's Day we got a chance to try out ice boating. What fun! Unfortunately, on Neil's second time out the wind picked up and he tipped over receiving a crack to the head and snapping a piece of wood on the steering bar. The owner was very gracious and only concerned that Neil was alright. The good part about this was that I had already left the ice with the camera so there is no evidence of his skillful maneuvers.

picture I had opted out of ice skating...never that good at it and wasn't looking to break a limb while on vacation but when Neil encouraged me to give the ice boating a try I just couldn't resist. The owner had already assured me that under the present wind conditions is was highly unlikely that anything could go wrong (later Neil tested out that theory). It was so exciting. Gliding along almost in silence at about 25 mph, then the thrill of making the turn and off again across the lake. I could have stayed on all day.
