MUSIC: "AMERICA"

The following is a tribute to the July 4th holiday and to the flag that flies proudly over our beloved country--may it always be an inspiration to those people who gaze upon it!

Inspired by the photo taken by my good friend, Warren White, I wrote the following poem--the picture and poem appeared in the July 4, 1998 edition of the KINGSVILLE RECORD NEWS and two other publications--thanks for visiting this special July 4th page

SUNSET SPIRIT

Silhouetted against the sunset backdrop
With vibrant colors cloaked in black
Two objects strongly stand, side-by-side
Both firmly rooted--
One in the hearts of patriotic Americans
The other in God's nourishing earth

The leaves of the tree reach out
Offering comfort to the flag in its mourning regalia
Promising a healing of nations
As once heavenly Jerusalem's "tree of life" did

The morning sun will rise on these two
Still standing strongly
Still standing proudly
Two spirited symbols
Vibrant colors restored
Inspiring those who gaze upon them
