(Of the Maryland Area)

      The Poole family were basically centered in the Preston, Maryland area. Two photo's are displayed within this document. The first being that of Levin Poole (1) who is the senior family member known at this time.
      Family members names shown in Marroon are the direct ancestors of my children Eric, Kayla, & Kara. Anyone that has information or questions on this family line please email me. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy this short history of the Poole Family.

Levin Poole, (1)

      Levin, (1) was born on September 10, 1838 possibly in the Preston area. His parent’s names are currently unknown. He married Martha Elizabeth (________) whose maiden name is currently unknown. Martha was born on October 31, 1852 and it is known that her mother’s name was Elizabeth.
      Levin (1) was believed to be a farmer and to reside in the Preston area. He reportedly fought during the Civil War and more research will be done in this area shortly. His wife Martha preceeded him in death on September 7, 1878 and was interred in the Preston Cemetery in Preston. Levin (1) died on March 8, 1916 and was interred next to his wife. The above photo is the only known photo to exist of Levin (1). Together they only had one known child. 2.* Sally Emily Poole, b. Jun 10, 1876, d. Mar 8, 1960

Sally Emily Poole

Sally Emily Poole, (2)

      Sally, (2) was born the only known child of Levin (1) & Martha Elizabeth ( ) Poole on June 10, 1876 and it is believed she was born in the Preston area. She married Lewis Clayton Carroll who was born the son of Rozzell W. & Lucy A. (Messick) Carroll on August 25, 1875 in Preston. Sally (2) worked as the typical farmer’s wife since she and her husband owned and operated their own farm.
      Clayton died on November 30, 1938 at the age of 63 of a stroke. He was interred in the Preston Cemetery, Preston. Sally (2) died on March 8, 1960 of a Heart Attack and was interred next to her husband in Preston. Together they had 7 children. 3. Lloyd Levin Carroll, b. Sep 21, 1899, d. Sep 22, 1979
4. Merritt Rozzell Carroll, b. Jul 16, 1902, d. Mar 6, 1923
5.* Martha Elizabeth Carroll, b. Aug 22, 1904
6.* Harry Lewis Carroll, b. Jun 29, 1906, d. Nov 8, 1972
7.* Grace Carroll, b. Mar 3, 1908
8. Raymond Clayton Carroll, b. Feb 6, 1910, d. Mar 6, 1966
9.* Bernice Carroll, b. Jun 21, 1911, d. Jul, 1975

      Family Notes: All 7 children were born in Preston. Lloyd (3) was never married & did not have any children. He died of a Heart Attack while living with his sister Grace (7) in Denton at the age of 80. Lloyd (3) worked as a Farmer. Merritt (4) was never married & did not have any children. He died while working in a Ship Yard in Philadelphia, PA of a ruptured appendix at the age of 21. Raymond (8) was also never married & did not have any children. He died of Emphysema at the age of 56 in the hospital in Easton. He worked during his lifetime as a farmer. Lloyd (3), Merritt (4) & Raymond (8) are all interred together in the Preston Cem., Preston.
