We have made many trips to England and have some nice pictures to show you.

Thames River where I grew up.

We have recently got back from a three week vacation in England.
The weather wasn't the greatest but we rented a Ford Escort and got around.
It was a bit nerve-racking driving on the wrong side of the very narrow roads but we managed it without putting a scratch on the car which I thought was a `blooming miracle'.
We revisited the area where I grew up. It was like a trip down memory lane for me. As a kid I used to play beside the River Thames and each time I go back to England I revisit it. There are quite a few pubs beside the river and I found an interesting plaque on the wall of one of them.

Found outside 'The City Barge.'

Of course everyone knows of the famous London Double Decker buses. Riding on them can be quite an experience. It's really amazing how the drivers can wheel those cumbersome vehicles through the narrow streets. If you meet one on one of those narrow residential streets you need nerves of steel because they come at you without slowing down and squeeze past somehow.
They have some strange speed bumps in England. They call them `Humps'. They are about eight inches high and about ten feet long. The first indication you get are a couple white arrow heads painted on the bump unless you caught the sign saying `Humps Ahead'. In the area where we were staying there were about eight of them within a half mile distance. What frustration!

This is a Hump.

You may have noticed from the picture that it is raining. It rained every day for three weeks while were in England on our last trip.

Each time I go to visit Strand On The Green I am disapponted at the way the weeds have been allowed to take over. The two pictures below were taken in the same spot ten years or so apart. As you can see, a beautiful view of the river has been eliminated.

Then______________ and ____________ Now.

If you look closely you will notice that in the most recent picture the drinking fountain is rendered useless.
I have been in touch with the Hounslow council and have been assured that the weeds are going to be removed. I have tried to find out how this work was progressing but no family members have been back to check it to my knowledge. I would appreciate hearing a progress report.
