I Could See Tears In Your Eyes

On that great and glorious Day of the Lord;
When you were crowned Lord and King.
As all men fell on their face before you, and the Angels began to sing;
I saw you in the courtroom that day, but the sunshine was gone from your smile;
As you sat on the throne with the Book in your hand;
And about to begin with the trial.
The men, the women, and the children of age
were all standing before you in fear;
I could see and smell the smoke from Hell,
The time the Prophets foretold was here.
The Angels stopped singing and the room fell quiet;
And the silence was turned to a moan;
As each one bowed before you, when their name was spoke from the throne.
As a teenage boy came before you, I could hear his mother's cry;
As he was ushered into the pits of Hell,
He looked to his mom screaming "why"?
A rich man came wearing gold and jewels thinking he could buy his way in;
I could see the terrified look on his face when you said "Take them with you into hell, you evil worker of sin."
A young husband and wife standing side by side,
Knowing their two young children were free;
As they were consumed into the black clouds of smoke,
"Just one more chance" was their plea.
A mother was saved but her daughter was lost;
As she stood where the condemned sinner stands.
The young girl screamed and her mother looked down
To see her daughter's blood was all over her hands.
With the last person gone, you sealed up Hell's door;
And the smoke and the cries diminished;
You stood up and looked around that large empty room and said with a cry, "It is finished."
I noticed when you asked the Angels for a moment alone
In that room that was just filled with cries;
You fell to the floor with your face in your hands;
And I could see tears in your eyes.
