**Cora Alma PETTEY left George Washington BERRY and never returned nor divorced. George moved to Abilene, TX to live with a son of his. Family tradition says she left George because he would not allow the two girls to have music lessons (Omie was very precocious and could play just about any instrument; played the piano at age 4).
*** George W. BERRY had a daughter by his first wife whom he also named Sudy (? Sudie ?). This Sudy in the 1920 Shelby county census was by his marriage to his second wife Cora Alma BERRY. This second Sudie later changed her name to Mary Sue when she was around 10 years old.
