In the 1866 Houston City Directory, Mrs. J. K. STAFFORD lived on Milam between Rusk and Walker, as did I. C. STAFFORD (clerk steamer Silver Cloud), J. S. STAFFORD (money clerk Southern Express office), E. A. STAFFORD (clerk with Sam Sterne), and W. M. STAFFORD (cashier Southern Express), her sons. There was also listed a C.R. STAFFORD, clerk with F. Col. William Maner STAFFORD purchased the STAFFORD plot (Section A, Lot 129) in Glenwood Cemetery, Houston, TX, where three of his brothers [Isaac C. (Confederate Veteran), Earl A., and Josiah Seth] are buried, as well as members of the SMITH family.
He also had a STAFFORD plot (Section 2, Lot 3) in the Episcopal Cemetery in Galveston, Texas, where the following are buried:

My mother often told me that a former female slave is buried in the STAFFORD plot; regretably, her name is not known.
