Tessellating Triangle
8.5 inches unfinished on each side
Colors
This is your opportunity to use up some of those scraps.
- The border around the triangle is made up of strips of scraps in various colors.
- The center triangle is an off white or light beige print.
Cut
- Starch and press the triangle fabric before you cut it. This will reduce the stretch in
this bias piece.
- Cut a beige equilateral triangle with all sides measuring 6.5 inches and all angles
measuring 60'. If you have a triangle ruler this will help otherwise use the 60' line on
your regular ruler.
Piece
- Sew strips of fabric together and cut them to a width of 1.5 inches. They should be long
enough to hang off the edge of the triangle.
- Sew the strip to the triangle and use a rotary cuter and ruler to trim the strip as
shown to continue the edge of the triangle.
- Sew two more strips and repeat step 3 for each in turn.
- The finished triangle should look like the finished triangle at the top of the page.
Note - Keep in mind that you are working with bias edges on the triangle. Take care not
to stretch the fabric when working with it.
