Colors
This block uses two contrasting colors. The background is a pastel solid or print. The bow ties are a dark or bright dot print. the charm squares from the "Seeing Spots" swap are perfect for this.

Cut
This block has been redrafted so it can be made with two 6 1/2 inch charm squares.

  1. cut 2 - 3 inch squares from fabric A
  2. cut 2 - 3 inch squares from fabric B
  3. cut 2 - 1 7/8 inch squares from fabric A

Piece

  1. Lay one of the smaller fabric A squares right sides together with the a fabric B square
  2. Draw a diagonal line across the smaller square as shown
  3. Sew on the drawn line
  4. Trim away the middle layer of fabric (the excess of fabric A) leaving the top and bacground fabric intact.
  5. Fold the inside triangle towards the corner and press.
  6. Repeat steps 1 to 5 for the other small fabric A square and B square
  7. Assemble as a four-patch as shown in the picture at the top of this page.
