Slanted Star

This block uses two colors. Colors that look brown or tea-dyed look great with this block.

A. an old fashioned dark or medium print in any color. The civil war reproduction fabrics are perfect with this block. I have redrafted this block to use 6 ½ inch charm squares
B. a beige print

Piece

  1. Lay a 37/8 inch B square right sides together with a 37/8 inch A square.
  2. Draw a diagonal line across the square.
  3. Sew ¼ inch on either side of the line.
  4. Cut apart on the drawn line, press.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 on the other 37/8 inch squares
  6. You will have 4- 3 ½ inch half-square triangles.
  7. Sew row 1 and 4 with the 3 ½ inch squares in a row as shown.
  8. Sew a half square triangle together with a solid square A.
  9. Repeat
  10. Attach these to both sides of the 6 ½ inch square to make a large row
  11. Sew the 3 rows together.
