This new challenge is a personal one, where each quilt maker will explore the use of color, shape and design as a means of evoking an emotion. Each participant will choose one specific color, shape and feeling/emotion, write them down and throw them in separate bowls. Then each participant will draw a slip of paper from each bowl of the three catagories. The challenge is to create a quilt which contains the color drawn, is made using the shape drawn and which evokes the feeling or emotion drawn.
When selecting and writing down a color, be specific. Instead of saying blue, try instead Cerulean or Azure. Shapes can be anything from square to diamond to a flower, stick or swirl. Emotions or feelings are more difficult. Think of thinks like joy, freedom, anger, heat. Whatever you choose to contribute, don't make it so difficult that you yourself can not come up with an idea for your choices, because you never know, you just might draw your own selection from the bowl!
