A LETTER TO YOU FROM SATAN
I saw you yesterday as you began your daily
chores. You awoke without doing your devotions
AGAIN and w/out even kneeling to pray. As a
matter of fact, you didn't even bless your meals,
or pray before going to bed last night.
You are
so unthankful, I like that about you. I cannot tell
you how glad I am that you have not followed
through on all your promises and commitments
to "chang your ways", Fool, you act like you are
mine! Remember, you and I have been going
steady for years, and I still don't love you yet!
As
a matter of fact, I hate you, because I hate God.
I am only using you to get even with God. He
kicked me out of heaven, and I'm going to use
you as long as possible to pay him back.
You see,
Fool, GOD LOVES YOU and HE has great
plans in store for you. But you have yielded your
life to me and I'm going to make your life a
living hell. That way even though I lost your soul
to Him i won't lose others because of you and I
won't let you enjoy your salvation. This will
really hurt God.... Thanks to YOU.
I'm
really showing Him who's boss in your life. With
all of the good times we've had..... We have been
watching bad movies... (no one will know),
cursing people out... (only in your head OF
COURSE- no one will know!), partying, stealing,
lying, hypocriting, fornicating (you and that
boyfriend/girlfriend of yours)!!!
I love watching God's face
as He sees His beloved children falling all over
each other!), and then there's your idolatry (God
doesn't come as #1 or even 2 anymore!)
overeating, under-eating, telling dirty jokes (it
was funny-you couldn't help it!!), gossiping,
backstabbing people (he did it to you first!),
disrespecting adults and those in leadership
position (they're jerks anyway!!), NO respect for
the church, bad attitudes (well, you humans
usually call it "just a bad mood"): SURELY you
don't want to give all this up! Come on, Fool,
let's burn together while we've still got time. I've
got some hot plans for us.
This is just a
letter of appreciation from me to you. I'd like to
say "THANKS" for letting me use you for most
of your foolish life. You are so gullible, I laugh
at you. When you are tempted to sin, you give
in... EVERY time!
HA HA HA, you make me
sick. Sin is really beginning to take its toll on
your life. You look 20 years older than you are,
and you feel even worse. You're so tired and
worn out so you run to even MORE sin-like it's
going to make you feel BETTER or
something!!!!! Even if it hasn't happened
yet, it will. I need new blood. So go ahead and
teach some children how to sin. All you have to
do is gossip, fornicate, and listen to and dance to
the top 10 secular songs. Do all of this in the
presence of children and they will do it too. Kids
are like that. And you think they're not
watching!
Well, Fool, I have to let you go for
now. I'll be back in a coupleof seconds to tempt
you again. If you were smart, you would run
somewhere, confess your sins, live for God with
what little bit of life that you have left. It's not
my nature to warn anyone, but to be your age
and still sinning... it's becoming a bit ridiculous.
Don't get me wrong, I still hate you...... IT'S
JUST THAT YOU'D MAKE A BETTER
FOOL FOR CHRIST THAN YOU HAVE FOR
ME.
Yours truly, Satan
P.S. - And if you really
love me, you won't share this letter with anyone
THE LAST CONVERT
The recent motion picture, "Titanic," has captivated the
minds of many. The purpose of this story is to relate a little
known chapter in the saga of the great tragedy that befell the
famous ocean liner on that fateful night, Sunday, April 14,
1912. After striking an iceberg the majestic queen of the
White Star fleet disappeared into the black, cold waters of the North Atlantic.
The ship took less than three hours to enter its watery tomb, taking with it 1517
souls. Only 706 survived.
Now, here's the rest of the story...
John Harper, the newly called pastor of Moody Church in the early 1900's,
manifested his Christian character in the sinking of the Titanic. Dr. W. B. Riley
related the death of Harper. "We have the history of John Harper's end, for
survivors, brought to harbor in safety, told the same. When the Titanic was
struck by the iceberg that drove in her sides, and sent the ship to the bottom,
John Harper was leaning against the rail pleading with a young man to come to
Christ ...." (Ministers' Research Service)
Four years after the Titanic went down, a young Scotchman rose in a meeting in
Hamilton, Canada, and said, "I am a survivor of the
Titanic. When I was drifting alone on a spar that
awful night, the tide brought Mr. John Harper, of
Glasgow, also on a piece of wreck near me. 'Man,'
he said, 'are you saved?' 'No,' I said. 'I am not.' He
replied, 'Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou
shalt be saved.'"
"The waves bore him away; but, strange to say brought him back a little later,
and he said, 'Are you saved now?' 'No,' I said, 'I cannot honestly say that I am.'
He said again, 'Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved,' and
shortly after he went down; and there, alone in the night, and with two miles of
water under me, I believed. I am John Harper's last convert." (Aguilla Webb)
CRUCIFIXION
The cross consisted of a perpendicular stake with a crossbeam
either at the top of the stake or shortly below the top. The height
of the stake was usually little more than the height of a man. A
block or a pin was sometimes driven into the stake to serve as a
seat for the condemned person, giving partial support to his
body. Sometimes also a step for the feet was fixed to the stake.
Victims of crucifixion did not usually die for 2 or 3 days. But this
was determined by the presence or absence of the seat and the
foot rest, for a person suspended by his hands lost blood
pressure quickly, and the pulse rate was increased. Usually the
victim had been severely scourged before crucifixion took place.
Total collapse through insufficient blood circulation to the brain
and the heart would follow shortly. If the victim could ease his
body by supporting himself with the seat and footrest, the blood
could be returned to some degree of circulation in the upper part
of his body. To fix the hands to the cross beam either cords or
nails and cords were used; sometimes the feet were nailed also.
When it was desired to bring the torture to an end, the victim's
legs were broken below the knees with a club. It was then no
longer possible for him to ease his weight, and the loss of blood
circulation was accentuated. Coronary insufficiency followed
shortly. The victim's offense was usually published by a crier
who preceded him to the place of execution. Sometimes it was
written on a tablet which was carried by the condemned man
himself.
(Gal 3:13 KJV) Christ hath redeemed us from the curse
of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is
every one that hangeth on a tree:
Comment: Even knowing this,
we still complain. What would we do if Christ were to say, "You
carry my burden which I carried on the day I was crucified, and I
will carry yours today."
