The Royal Highland Fusiliers (Princess Margaret's Own Glasgow and Ayrshire Regiment) is composed of men from Ayrshire and the City of Glasgow, and has its Headquarters and Museum in the heart of Glasgow. The Regiment was founded in 1959 by combining the Royal Scots Fusiliers and the Highland Light Infantry, whose separate records were equally glorious, amassing 194 Battle Honours.
Since the Sec6nd World War, the Regiment has served in India, Berlin, Malaya, Greece, Palestine, Egypt, Cyprus, Aden, Gibraltar, Northern Ireland and Singapore. Besides the privilege of the Freedom of the City of Glasgow and the Royal Burgh of Ayr, the Regiment received the Freedom of lserlohn, becoming the first British Regiment to be so honoured by a German city.
The Colonel-in-Chief of the Regiment is Her Royal Highness The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon.
My apologies to the regiment....I am awaiting a more extensive Regimental History.
