St. Michael's Church in Dumfries is famous as the burial place of Robert Burns. It is a large church in the town. The graveyard near the church is crowded with stones although the back area is more ordered. Unfortunately many stones have been vandalized or have fallen over and not been repaired. There are a number of more recent (19th and 20th century) Carruthers graves here.
