Claypole, England

 

  

 The village of Claypole was NOT named after the Claypole/Claypoole family. Its only connection to the Claypoole family is that during the English Civil War, John Claypoole, son-in-law of Oliver Cromwell was trapped in the village church with a troop of men. He subsequently managed to escape through a tunnel below the church. Below is a photo of that church.
