EASTER EGG HUNT & QUIZ
GAME:
We wish you a most Happy and Joyous Easter
Celebration! If Papa Alfred Stadem had known about this
game, he might have played it with his family since it does
not take away from the true significance of Easter but
actually is a fun way for adults and children to be
challenged on what they know or should know about the great
events of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Why is the Resurrection of Jesus Christ important and worth celebrating? Simply put, there would be no Christian Church whatsoever, no Christians either, if Christ hadn't risen from the dead. It had to be the real thing--or the apostles first and nobody but nobody after that would have died for it, and millions (some estimate 200 millions) actually did die (millions by choice rather than give up Jesus) and are still dying for Christ even today! Would YOU die for something you wished happen or a good story or a good man or an ethical idea or a nice, white-frame building with a steeple on it? Not likely! Again, it had to be the real truth, which you knew was nothing but the truth--or Christian faith would never have got off the ground (it would have been delivered still-born in Jerusalem on the fourth day after Christ was crucified, then promptly buried,
with absolutely nobody objecting!
Now some
suggestions for playing the Easter Egg Hunt and Quiz Game
are:
1. Fifteen people, adults and children, can
play this game. If there are more playing, boil extra eggs
just in case and include them, without having to add
questions and answers to them. Those added eggs can just
be kept by the finders. For the fifteen, however, boil at
least three dozen medium or large white eggs and let them
dry--do not refridgerate, or they will be difficult to
write on or keep the writing you put on them. Each egg has
a question on one side and an answer on the other. Writing
can be made on stickers, with ink that can stand dampness,
and the egg can be put in a sandwich wrapper and hidden in
grass or foliage. If the weather is really bad, the eggs
can be hidden in one room or more of the house or porch or
deck.
2. When playing the question and answer part
after the hunt, the contestant is first instructed to read
the question without looking at the answer. If the person
reads the answer first, the egg is forfeited and should be
put back into the basket.
3. With everyone listening, each contestant
takes a turn in reading the question and then trying to
answer the question without any coaching by others or
looking in a Bible. To find the answer, to see what is
correct, the player turns the egg to check the answer on
the other side. If correct, the player keeps the egg. If
wrong, the egg must be replaced in the basket for
additional drawings.
4. Contestants should read the question, and
answer, and then check the answer quickly to keep the game
moving along. Each will be timed for an answer, and at the
count of five a contestant's time is up. If the contestant
does not answer in time, then the egg is forfeited to the
basket.
5. IMPORTANT: If a contestant answers
correctly, he or she may draw another egg from the basket
and try again to win it. This enables a contestant to
build up a superiority in number of eggs even if he or she
hadn't found very many in the hunt.
The eggs that were forfeited can be used for
an additional drawing by contestants until they are all
gone.
6. Whoever ends up with the most eggs wins
the quiz game and is entitled to be declared by the host of
the game to be the Bible Scholar of the group! The host
may present an additional award or prize or certificate
which may be a Bible or a cake or something humorous.
Chocolate bunnies or candy can be given as prizes too, if
first prize, second prize, and third prize or number of
eggs people have won are acknowledged. Expect it to be a
lot of fun to do, and fun to win the prizes, for this game
has been played and it worked very well the first time it
was played.
TIME TO PLAY THE QUIZ GAME!
