Dear Dad:

We have a monster in the closet.

I saw it yesterday. It was big and black and it had wheels for feet and bright, glowing eyes and a long trunk that would have sucked me in if I hadn't run away in time.

It makes an awful noise, like a roar or a really loud growl. And it won't shut up! It freaked me out and I ran right into the kitchen. Thank God Mom was there. I ran right up and jumped into her arms. She held me and walked into the bathroom while Uncle Matt chased the monster around the living room for a long time. Finally he must have been able to muzzle it, because when I got up my courage to look in the living room, he was forcing it back into the closet. Then he shut the door.

It hasn't come out since, but I just know it's still there, waiting to jump out and get me. You can bet I'm keeping an eye on that door from now on.

By the way, if anything happens to me, I'm leaving my will under the couch.
