Bombs are exploding everywhere! No matter where we run we hear the whizzing of rockets and the pop-pop-pop-pop of machine gun fire. Every few seconds bombs light up the sky, turning it eerie colors like green and red and blue and gold. We are concerned it's chemical warfare, but so far we haven't experienced any ill side effects. We fear the worst. Mackie is valiantly fighting in the back yard. I can hear his voice raised amidst the shouts from the scared people running through the streets. (Well, actually, it's a bit odd. They're sitting in chairs out there. I'm fairly certain it's just shell shock.) Puff Daddy volunteered to help Mackie, and he's running with him. I fear he has been affected by the chemicals and the bombs, because every once in a while he just forgets about the attack and starts chewing on a hoof. But Mackie comes in and reminds him, and he returns to the fray. Mom is definitely in denial. She's watching TV and doesn't even flinch at the bombs and the rockets and the machine guns. We're doing what we can to protect her, but I just don't know what will happen. Everyone agreed that I should be the one to write this letter, so I have bravely crawled beneath the couch and away from enemy fire to complete my task. Dad, if we make it out alive, it will be a miracle. Please always remember we love you. Tell Mom Rapunzel and Mom RuPawl we love them too. Ever and always your kids, |
