Dear Dad: You should've seen it! It was huge! The biggest thing I've ever seen! We'd just gotten Mom up (even though the alarm goes off she doesn't budge until we lick her a lot in the face) and trundled downstairs for food. Mackie went out in the backyard to pee, but he didn't come back. Which is all right with me - if I play my cards right (whatever that means), I might snag his bowl, too. Anyway, I finished my bowl and since Mom was smart and hadn't put Mackie's down yet, I decided I might as well go investigate. Man! Even from the deck I could see it, bigger than life! It was all white and fluffy with long ears and huge, glowing pink eyes I swear were staring right through me. And there was Mackie, moving toward it so s-l-o-w-l-y. Step...by step...by step. Well, I could see he'd be needing reinforcements, and because everyone else was still eating, I could tell speed was important here. So I just tore past Mackie to the gate. Thank God I scared it away. You think mom'd be happy, but the next thing I know, she's trudging through the yard in shorts with these ridiculous black shoes on and she goes out the gate - WITHOUT US! And don't you think we didn't set up a howling protest! Imagine her going out into the alley after that big white thing alone without our help! We watched her go up the alley until she caught up with it. You could've knocked us over with a feather when she bent down and picked it up!! Oh, we were beside ourselves. And THEN a brown thing - just like the white thing - hopped beside her! And she got it, too!! Then that little neighbor girl came and took them both. We breathed a sigh of relief that Mom was OK. We heard Mom telling Kathy that she'd rescued a white bunny named Vanilla and a brown bunny named Cinnamon, but we don't believe it for a minute. We had a conference after mom went to work, and we know what it really was. It was that mole we killed a month ago coming back to haunt us. So we're setting up a vigil in the yard and, while Mom's at work, we're calling the Psychic Connection at that 1-900 number. We'll be ready next time. Love, Oh, yeah. Almost forgot.
