Mom's Home Page

My Site is still under construction!

My Name is Charlotte and I'm The Mom! I used to be the Media Co-ordinator (formerly known as Librarian) at Falkland Elementary School, in rural Pitt County, North Carolina. Our school is a K through 5 school located near the Bruce Comunity. Our school population is less than 500. I have been a school librarian since 1968. I Graduated from Memphis State University, Memphis, TN and have served schools in rural West Tennessee (Adamsville and Counce), Eastern Arkansas (Marianna - Lee County High School), Northwest Mississippi (Senatobia and Coldwater, MS) and Eastern North Carolina (Edgecomb and Pitt Counties). In 1972, I received a Masters Degree from Memphis State University.

On March 26, 1999, I had back surgery to correct my spinal curvature (Scoliosis). The surgery corrected that problem, but has caused some other problems, and I am no longer able to do any lifting. So in April of 2000, I was put on 100% disability and have resigned my position as Librarian in the Pitt County School system. I really miss not being around the children, so will continue to serve the school as a volunteer.

I am still having health problems, all related to my Diabetes. My eyesight has been affected and I have been operated on for cataracts.

I'm the one with the Green Hair!

I have been involved in both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts for many years. I became a Girl Scout leader in 1969 and have been a Troop Leader, Trainer, Troop Organizer, Day Camp Director, and a Consultant. My husband and I became Cub Scout leaders in 1975. I have been Den Leader, Den Leader Coach, Trainer, Day Camp Director, and Pack Committee Chairman. In Boy Scouts, I have been Troop Committee Member, Assistant Scout Master and I'm Wood Badge Trained (I'm a Beaver!).
I love old-time country music, expecially music by the original Carter Family, Gid Tanner and the Skillet Lickers, and traditional Bluegrass Music. I REALLY like the Statler Brothers, even though they are not Bluegrass. I have accompanied my husband and family on many Bluegrass Festival outings, and as you might guess from my Scouting background, WE TENT CAMP! Maybe when we get old and grey (half way there now!), we will get a camper of some sort.
