Schuyler Rumson

It's was summer of 97. I was staying with some friends. I heard that there were some free kittens at a yard sale. I never had a kitten before, but had always wanted one. We when and look at the kitten. I picked out the smallest one. They were only 4 weeks old.

My friends ended up takeing the 3 other kittens and mother cat too. I named mine Schuyler Rumson but called him Sky Sky. He was a very naughty kitten always getting into trouble.He loved to play with is 3 brothers. He was the smallest but was very quick. They were outside kittens and a few days before I left to go home Sky Sky got tree sap in his eye.

When I went back home. He wasn't thrilled about the 2 dogs, but got use to them. I took him to the vet and he had a ear infection. That cleared up right away.Sky wrestled with Wolf and tormented Aristede and the birds Tiki and Altea. When I went to bed with wet hair. Sky Sky would lick my hair.

At 9mths he was castrated and looked heathly, but within a month he couldn't eat. I would feed him, but nothing would stay down. He was also haveing trouble breathing. After a few days of this we took Sky Sky to the vet. The Vet gave in a shot and said if he doesn't eat in the next 24 hour bring him back. He didn't so back we when. The vet took an x-ray. He called one of the other vet. I know bythe look on her face it was bad. He came back and said he thought it was FIP but wasn't sure. He said the mass in Schuylers chest was really large and he would die soon. He say week could feed him a liquet diet, but he was very sick. Mom asked if it would be better for him to be put to sleep. The vet said yes.

I took Sky Sky and when out to the car. I was so sad and angry. How could this be happening. He was so sweet, beautiful and so young. I took in out a the carrier and held him. He started to purr. It wasn't his usual loud long purr. it was soft and short. I felt like I was on fire I was so hot. I could hear my heart beating. It was beating so fast it was hurting.

Mom came to the car. the vet said we should have him but to sleep she daid. I know I said. We got home and a took him into the house. My sister ask what was wrong with him and reached for him. I screamed at her and took him into the bathroom. I wanted so time with my baby.

I layed on the floor next to him and talk to him. I told him he was going to go to sleep soon and wouldn't be in pain. I asked him if he mined if I got another purrrbaby. Sky Sky looked at me and whispered a meow. I know that ment no i don't mind. A few days later mom too him to the vet. I had said goodbye to him before she left. I was sad because he was going yet glad that his pain was ending. A few week later I got Brother Jerome and then Brother Oswin. When week took them to get their kitten shot. The vet said Schuyler had FeLv.

I will alway miss my Sky Sky. I know he watches over the Brothers and is waiting at the bridge for them. I will see them when the are very old I pray.
