ST. IGNACE STATE FERRY ELEVATOR REMNANT

Here we see what remains of the old Michigan State Highway Department Auto Ferry elevator structure at the present Arnold Line dock in St. Ignace. The building is not quite so high as it was many years ago when it lifted autos to the 2nd deck of THE STRAITS OF MACKINAC. What is left now is employed for storage purposes. These photos were taken August 19, 1998 by Ed Brown, Jr.

On the following page you can view rare photos of the ill fated AQUARAMA a converted WW-II vessel which once plied the Lakes as a palatial excursion steamer.
