THE MONTCALM AND MONTROSE

THE MONTCALM, sister ship of the MONTROSE passing Edison's St. Clair Power Plant. Not long after this photo was snapped, the MONTCALM rescued about 300 passengers from a burning cruise ship near the Canary Islands.

The sunken British M.V. MONTROSE being raised beneath the Ambassador Bridge.

The angling black lines on the front of the superstructure were caused by accumulations of Detroit River water gunk. They mark the various positions in which the MONTROSE rested, as it was slowly raised from the bottom of the river.

Here's a sketch of an old excursion steamer from the pen of Wm. Ewen, Jr. as it appeared in STEAMBOAT BILL in the 1970 Spring issue.
