Welcome to the Mofford Family Tree

Thank-you for visiting the Mofford Family Tree Website. This site is built on years of compiling information, months of learning HTML, with continual improvements, additions and updates. Really a labour of love researching the history of the Moffords and relations around the world.
This website is divided into three main areas of research: * Acadian Roots * Caribbean Roots * Worldwide.

I am Glen Alan Mofford the youngest of four children of Cuthbert Lawrence Mofford (Roots from the Caribbean) and Celina Jean Gallant (Roots from old Acadia).
My father was born in St. John, New Brunswick on June 15, 1917. His father was born on the Island of St. Vincent in what was then known as the British West Indies on April 4, 1894. While Barbados and St. Vincent remain my main focus for research, Trinidad and other countries in the Caribbean where Moffords have lived or are currently living will be investigated.

The maternal side of the family finds me researching in Halifax, Nova Scotia where my mother was born on December 8, 1919. Her father, Arthur Edgar Gallant, was born in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. My research expands into the Canadian Maritimes: specifically Cape Breton, Halifax and area, Saint John, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island where the "Gallant" name is everywhere.
My grandmother on my fathers side, was born in Lower L'Ardoise, Richmond County, Cape Breton and her maiden name is Mary Obeline Sampson,(Acadian). Fortunately there is excellent and reliable information regarding the Samson/Sampson family history which I will add to the links in the "Acadian section" of this website.
